The present study describes a methodology based on the CDIO model implemented in order to re-design the Universidad Catolica del Norte (UCN) engineering profiles. UCN will re-design the engineering curriculum supported by a Chilean government project where the profile is the first step. The profile definition process begins with a survey of all the stakeholders (students, graduates and employers). In the first place the analysis of the survey gave the skills level of proficiency and the attitudes in the X.X level follow by their validation using the Bloom taxonomy to formulate learning outcomes. The learning outcomes and different requirement such as ABET criteria (criterion 3), Tuning skill and educational project of the UCN were compared. Finally the UCN engineer profile was established based on the learning outcomes associated with knowledge, attitudes and skills described in the CDIO Syllabus. In a workshop with the chiefs of engineering programs and an expert on CDIO the UCN engineer profile was validated. The UCN engineer profile is the framework to build the specific profile for each engineering programs.
