Teaching Reform on Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering Based on CCDIO

L. Zhenhua (2015).  Teaching Reform on Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering Based on CCDIO. 13.

At present, engineering education model is relatively single in China, mainly science-oriented education, lack of career development education, poor engineering practice and employment competitiveness, it is necessary to reform engineering education. The paper analyzes the necessity of CCDIO in China, including the highest proportion of engineering students in Chinese higher education; serious examination-oriented education, poor career development education, severe employment pressure; the need for industry transformation and upgrading. CDIO engineering education means Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate, called CDIO, jointly founded by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden Linköping University. CDIO emphasizes on cultivating engineering capabilities, lack of paying attention to students' career development, especially in China. Therefore, career is introduced into CDIO engineering education, the paper puts forward CCDIO engineering education. CCDIO means Career, Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate, called CCDIO, the students' career development is the core of CCDIO. The vision of CCDIO means that students' career development are embedded in the whole process of personnel training on the basis of CDIO, which attracts students willing to choose engineering-related vocation as a lifelong career, with the purpose of achieving self-development of the students by finding befitting career goal in the engineering field. The paper analyzes the specialty coverage of water supply and drainage science and engineering, including urban water resources, municipal water supply and drainage, building water supply and drainage, industrial water supply and drainage, agricultural water supply and drainage, urban water systems, water environmental protection, water saving, water culture transmission. The paper puts forward cultivating system based on CCDIO engineering education for water supply and drainage science and engineering, including student career development system, talents cultivating scheme, curriculum system, practice and training system, teaching quality assurance system, teacher training system. The curriculum system based on CCDIO for water supply and drainage science and engineering includes engineering foundation and introduction, engineering conceiving and designing, engineering implementing, engineering operating. Career development, for example learning to be and learning to do, is embedded in curriculum teaching with the purpose of realizing the whole process cultivating in order to enhance students' employability and entrepreneurial ability.
