Faculty training programs as drivers of educational change – 10 principles

[Anonymous] Faculty training programs as drivers of educational change – 10 principles.

In Sweden, the Higher Education Ordinance states that to be eligible to get a position as a lecturer, a training program on teaching and learning in higher education is required, normally 10 weeks full time. This paper describes principles for making such a training program an enabling and driving force for the development of engineering education. The principles are: 1. the good-enough-teacher, 2. practice what you preach, 3. interplay of theory and application, 4. contextualisation, 5. built-in implementation, 6. openness, 7. finding 38,000 USD of development funding for each week, 8. stakeholder relations, 9. cost-effective teaching methods, 10. system alignment.
