Biography:

Dr. Nhut Tan Ho is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), where he has taught since February 2005.  He is Founding Director of the Ernie Schaeffer Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Director of the CSUN Systems Engineering Research Laboratory (SERL).  He has been awarded the Fulbright Scholarship to conduct engineering education research in Vietnam during Spring 2008.

Dr. Ho was a member of the research team, led by MIT, which designed and flight-tested an aircraft noise abatement approach procedure (ANAAP) at Louisville International Airport in 2002 and 2004. The ANAAP was shown to reduce the acoustic energy by at least twofold, which is noticeable to the human ear. Currently he is working with researchers at NASA Ames, Boeing, Cal State Long Beach, San Jose State University, and Purdue University to develop situational awareness metrics for NASA Next Generation Air Transportation Systems Concepts, which accommodate safe, efficient, and secured movement of people and good throughout the air transportation system that operates at an increase of three times in capacity .

Dr. Ho is the first place 2005 winner of the PARTNER's (Partnership for Air Transportation Noise and Emissions Reduction) 1st Annual Joseph A. Hartman Paper Awards for his thesis work, entitled “Design of Aircraft Noise Abatement Approach Procedures for Near-Term Implementation.” He also received the 2005 NASA Faculty Summer Research Fellowship to conduct controller in-the-loop study of ANAAPs at NASA Ames Research Center.
